Indoor cat who snuck outside and left pawrents in puddle of tears finally found after worry-filled week by neighbor who spotted her, cat dad says: ‘At first we couldn’t find her but a little patience paid off as we spotted her slinking along a fence.’

If you thought getting an escaped indoor cat to come home would be as easy as offering up a few treats then we are sorry to say that this story tells a different tale.

As you might be aware thanks to the movie The Secret Lives of Pets, indoor cattos dream of little more than the freedom of the outdoor world. They imagine themselves spending their days chasing after birds, climbing trees, sleeping upon sunbaked rooftops and generally living a life of luxury and fun.

What they do not realize is that the outdoor world is a tough one that does not care for them. The birds are really tough to catch, the trees are super tough to get down from and the roofs often have nesting birds who will not let you rest peacefully upon them. And that is the world that this story's house cat was confronted with. But its pride meant that it took it a week to come to its senses and come home to where it was always supposed to be.

The irony being that when they get out there not only do they immediately realize that they have made a grave mistake about their judgement of the outdoors, but they also realize just how poorly suited they are for the outdoor life.   • Well now, that is quite the potentially useful service in a terrible time like this. The efforts that one must go through to bring back a lost indoor cat are unreal. The main issue being that more often than not your cat is not far away, they are just hiding in a bush somewhere. And the reason that they do not simply leave the bush and come to you is that they are too proud to admit their mistakes. So by coming to you when you call they would be admitting they were wrong and were better off to remain an indoor prince rather than chase a life of thrill and excitement outdoors. They are far too proud for that.
